JAPAN- KATRINA DEJA VU

Japan-Katrina Deja Vu- Merry Monday by Parris Bailey

“And a man shall be as a hiding place form the wind, and a covert from the tempest; as rivers of water in a dry place, as the shadow of a great rock in a weary land.” Isaiah 32:2

Looking at the recent footage of the Japan earthquake and tsunami definitely brought back flashbacks of Katrina. Our landscape changed in that storm and we are still rebuilding the city 6 years later.
A few months after Katrina, Frank and I wrote the “Eye of the Storm”. This is a excerpt from the book:
“A month before Katrina hit New Orleans, Frank and I went to Bulgaria. Bulgaria holds a special place in my heart, we have made many visits there. The long term effects of the Communist reign has had a devastating impact on that little country. The buildings are crumbling, the people don’t make enough money to live and there is not enough jobs to go around. On that trip we had just ministered at a church near Varna near the black sea. We went to grab a bite to eat up in the country side. As I look back on that day, little did I realize how God would use the events that followed to help me face the Katrina that would be coming just one month later. After lunch we begin to ride back down the mountain. We soon came across this Shepherd in full shepherd gear with his sheep, and his staff. I felt like I step backed into time, when we got close enough I saw his face. It was weathered and worn, but something about his face made me feel the peace of God. Something about the landscape spoke to me. The next thing I saw happened as we came across a little village and in this village I saw two girls washing their clothes in a wash pot laughing and giggling. When I looked at them, once again I felt a unusual peace. Finally we reached the valley below only to see field upon and field of huge sunflowers. All their black faces face the sun whenever it is shining. It seemed at that moment all their faces turned to me and once again I felt peace.”
When Katrina hit, God brought back to me all those visuals of Bulgaria. It became obvious, that the Shepherd always watches over the sheep, he weathers the storm. The girls giggling as they washed their clothes reminded me to take pleasure in the simple things of life, and of course the sunflowers are made beautiful as they fix their gaze upon the SON. He becomes our apple tree. It provides the shade, the fruit and the protection from the world without. I pray you can join with me as we let our Shepherd guide us, find joy in adversity and continue to drink from the rivers of water in a dry place.

  3. I was deeply moved by Katrina, even before it hit.The only way I can put it,is after praying,I just had a sense of peace, like the holy spirit, told me it was going to be alright. My own brother said that I was nuts for staying and not evacuating. But the lord provided for me,during and right after the storm. My q1uestion for everbody else is who do you trust in? Me I will trust in the lord with all of my heart.

  5. God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof.Selah.Psalms 46:1-3

We pray that a rebirth in Christ cover all of Japan so they may realize that a Buddha driven life is not the answer and that they need a merciful Savior much more than foolishly thinking that they can engineer buildings to survive on an active fault line.

And lo let us all realize that we all live daily on our individual active fault lines as the princess of darkness walks among us as a raging lion wanting to devour our spiritual lives though his lies of deceit and temptation.

  6. This isn’t weird if you were with me , I missed work today and went to work with my wife off of st. Charles and my daughter and I are playing at the park down the street well I we went back to the van and theres a young man with long striped pajama looking pants that was walking by that didn’t fit , and a loose fitted shirt walking barefoot , with a pair of nikes in his Hands with hardly any sole to them with holes and everything, inside one of his shoes was a old lantern, well he gave me 3 fruits , he said the kid can twirl them in her hand its fun . He had long hair and just had a glow to him in his eyes , and just couldn’t stop smiling . I asked him what the little lamps for and he said to share the love, so I asked him what kinda love your sharing, he was just smiling and said just love well he asked if I had a lighter, I said yeah and lit the little lantern so I said cool what religion are you he said there is none, I said yeah I guess you can look at it like that, I’m a Christian he said cool , and i asked him if he knew about Jesus he gave me a high five, and walked off. Saturday night I came t victory to only see George lol no service he said so we went to my grantees and talked about miracles through her hospital ministry at EJ. Well when we left she was telling me abou the trinity and things God made has made are in threes, sun moon stars, 3 pwasarts of a leaf and so forth. I thought of her after He have me 3 cumquarts cause this definitely wasn’t a normal situation I felt, and my wife felt as she was looking through the van. I’m saying I guess cause what you experienced Mrs. Bailey with the kids laughing while hand washing clothes. I never in my life seen someone so happy, and he had nothing appealing to the humane eye, I believe I shook Jesus himselfs hand, and no one can take that from me.
