IMAGE OF THE BEAST

Rev. 13:15 He was granted power to give breath to the image of the beast, that the image of the beast should both speak and cause as many as would not worship the image of the beast to be killed.

This chapter in Revelations speaks about the antichrist and the false prophet who will come into power in the last days. The spirit of antichrist is subtle and gains power and influence in our world on a daily basis. The spirit of the world is working in this world system; it is at work in the political world, the church world, the media, and in the economic system. The only restraining factor is the Holy Spirit working in His church. Paul said it like this in 2Th. 2:6-7 “And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way.” However you take this verse there is one thing that is obvious to me. The less spiritual the church is, the more ground the spirit of the world gains. With today’s shunning of the manifest presence of the Holy Spirit, even the church itself is beginning to show the effects of the world’s influence. In many of today’s churches it is impossible to tell the difference between the saved and the lost (I know that sounds old fashioned to some). Old fashioned is not necessarily bad. Many have bought into the underlying philosophy that man is evolving and improving as time goes by. The truth is that our hearts are desperately wicked, we are a fallen race, the only hope for improving is redemption and the power of the Spirit working in our lives.
One of my personal pet peeves is this, making the church meeting places look like a secular venue. What is wrong with looking like a church? What is wrong with a Bible, a pulpit, and a cross?
Many churches have replaced their crosses with a gigantic screen (our church has screens and video so that’s not the point). Where there once was a cross, the sign of God’s love for man, there is now an animated picture (video) of the pastor. Imagine replacing the cross with an image of yourself. To me, that is downright terrifying. At the end of the day the church is about glorifying God, not building a ministry base or even a great organization.
So this is the point, we need to drink again from the ancient wells. We need to rediscover the God of Evan Roberts, Jonathan Edwards, and Martin Luther. We need to drink again from the wells of William Seymour and Kathryn Kuhlman. When Christ is our all we will talk differently from the world and we will act differently from the world. To change the world we don’t have to look or act like the world. The power of the gospel of Jesus Christ is more than able to do the job.

  2. Yes Lord, I agree. I want the presence and power of God in my life. I am dedicating my entire life to getting it. Whatever I need to do to walk in the presence and power of God , so be it. I have nothing else to live for.

  3. I totally agree with what you aRE SHAREING TODAY WE ARE DOING SEVERAL TEACHINGS HERE AT OUR FELLOWSHIP ON MUCH OF WHAT YOU SHARED,many no longer hold to sound Bible doctorine but mix it with the world or many want to justify a lifestlye with some of Gods word so they can justify themselves, its all very deceetful, we nedd to live by the whole word of God and allow Him to work in our lives only as He sees fit, so many will be lost because they wont allow the lord to be lord or will they obey his word and allow God to be in control of their lives they no longer respect him as really being Lord.
